Since the new immigration law started on 15th of December 2007, the whole visa process would take about 6~ 8 weeks to complete.

There is a way that a teacher can complete the visa process a bit faster than 2 months.

 

This Fast visa process can apply to these following teachers.

 

¨ç Who isn't resident in their home Country (ex. U.K. teacher who currently lives in Thaliand, China and etc... or Canadian who live in Australia) and if he/she never had E2 visa in Korea before.

¨è Who want to come to Korea within 1 month.

 

Fast Visa steps

 

After the applicant accepts the teaching job in Korea, there are several steps for E-2 visa (teaching visa) process.

The folllowing is the faster way of doing the visa process. Applicant who wants to come to Korea after obtaining the visa need to see Visa Steps.

 

The Ministry of Justice in Korea state that there are only two cases teacher apply for E2 visa at a Korean Consulate/Embassy in the third Country.

¨ç Applicants who have been issued an E2 visa in the past and had no criminal record while in Korea.

¨è Applicants who have been verified to have certified documentation (* means 'degree verification certificate by KCUE')

Step 1

 

Start preparing the criminal background check from your local police ostation/ffice and get apostille stamp/certificate by your gavernment/State apostille office while you look for a ESL teaching job in Korea.

 

After you choose a school, you need to send the following documents to Planet People.

 

1. One of 4 types of degree certificate

2. Official Sealed Transcript
3. Copy of Passport
4. A signed copy of employment contract
5. 3 passport sized photos
6. Your resume
7. Self Medical Form - the applicant¡¯s self written medical form
8.
Criminal Record Check

Step 2

 

The school director apply for your degree verification at KCUE (it takes 7~ 30 days) and once it's done, the director will apply for your visa at the nearest immigration bureau and get the Visa Confirmation Number (it takes 3~ 7days).

The school will ask teacher to come once the teacher's degree verification with KCUE is successfully done. After the teacher arrives, the school will organize the teacher's Japan visa run shortly.

 

The cost of Japan visa trip will be paid by your school.

Schools mainly cover all transportation fares (airfare, bus fare), Hotel fee and food.

KCUE (Korean Council for University Education, http://english.kcue.or.kr Don't have much info there though)

KCUE provide degree verification service on employer's request only.

 

Ministry of Justice state these.

- once an applicant goes though this verification method to get an E2 visa, this process does not have to be repeated in the future

- The sealed transcripts sent by the university to immigration will remain the same.

If the document is verified through the KCUE, the process will be as follows:

* The applicant¡¯s school must submit the documents to the KCUE to be verified.

* If it is verified, the information will be inputted into the Korean Immigration Database.

* Therefore the applicant¡¯s information will be in the database and easy to retrieve.

 

Required Documents for Degree verification at KCUE:

NOTE: KCUE doesn't provide Degree verification service to individual applicant. Native teacher must find the school to sign and work for. and provide these following documents to your school director to process this verification.

1. Photocopy of your degree certificate

2. Let us know your student ID number at your university

3. Download and fill this following form and email/fax to us. ( Informed consent document )

 

Once your director submit the documents to KCUE by fax or email, it will take 1~ 4 weeks to obtain verification vertificate.
